Blasted on to the scene her rookie year to win BIG EAST title in 100-meter hurdles… talented West Virginia native who is becoming the face of the program … latest standout in an athletic family … elite sprinter/hurdler … very competitive … could become one of the best track athletes ever at WVU.
At West Virginia in 2008:
Won her first career BIG EAST title in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2008 BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships … won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.46 seconds at the 2008 ECAC Indoor Championships in Boston, Mass. … her time was the fourth-best in school history … placed third at 8.37 in 60-meter hurdles at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships … recorded an 8.66 in the 60-meter hurdles which ranked third-best amongst all BIG EAST competition at the Penn State Relays … competing in her first collegiate meet, she won two events with BIG EAST and ECAC qualifying performances … took the long jump with a leap of 5.71 meters and cruised to victory in the 60-meter hurdle prelims and finals … ran the 60-meter in the prelimary before running an 8.90 in the final … the qualifying mark was the highest of the season.
In High School:
Outstanding career, setting nine school records at Buckhannon Upshur High … owns one state record and three state meet records … won high point honors at the state meet all four years … finished in first place 11 different times at state championships … also stood out in heptathlon in AAU … took second at USATF heptathlon in 2007.
Personal:
Daughter of Rick and Andrea Carrier ... father played football and ran track at West Virginia Wesleyan where he owns the 200-meter record (21.7) … has a brother who also plays football and runs track at WVWC … birthday is Aug. 21 ... enrolled in general studies.
