WVU’s top returning pitcher who earned team MVP honors in 2008 ... right-hander who is valuable as a starter and adds depth out of the bullpen ... throws a sharp fastball with a complementary breaking ball and a change-up ... looks to anchor the starting rotation this year ... proven strike thrower.
2008: Had a team-best 3.01 ERA as a redshirt junior ... sported a 5-2 record in nine starts ... tied for third with 74.2 innings pitched ... pitched a complete-game shutout against Iona on March 14 ... also had 12 strikeouts in the same start ... only gave up two home runs throughout the year ... opponents had a .245 batting average against him ... threw a five-inning shutout against Akron on Feb. 23 ... gave up only one run in six innings pitched while striking out six on March 25 against Morehead State ... threw four shutout innings in game two of a doubleheader against Cincinnati on May 16.
2007: Saw increased action as a redshirt freshman ... got his first collegiate win in his first appearance against Cleveland State (2/16) ... struck out five batters three times (N.C. State, 2/23; Marist, 3/2; Seton Hall, 3/24) ... got his first career start against Duquesne (3/13) ... earned a victory after throwing 5.2 innings during West Virginia’s 13-inning stunning victory over Seton Hall (3/24) ... recorded a victory in his second start of the season against Ohio(5/9).
2006: Redshirted ... was team MVP of the Frederick Hustlers and MVP of the Dizzy Dean Tournament.
Prep: Played baseball, golf and football at Frederick High ... first team all-conference ... first team All-Gazette ... first team All-Frederick News Post and first team All-Herald Mail ... was a Brooks Robinson Classic All-Star and on the All-Maryland team.
