At West Virginia in 2007-08: Notched two wins at NCAAs, including a 7-3 decision against Edinboro’s Daryl Cocozzo … also defeated Oregon State’s Kyle Larson in a 13-12 decision … qualified for his third NCAA Tournament after defeating Lock Haven’s Matt Fittery, 8-4 … finished as the runner-up at the EWL Championships after falling to Cocozzo, 4-2 … won five of last seven matches in the regular season … defeated Pitt’s Joe Ciampoli twice, including 6-5 and 5-4 decisions … three major decisions during junior campaign … had critical 14-6 major decision against Ohio’s Kevin Christensen to swing momentum of the match … ranked as high as No. 20 by W.I.N. Magazine during junior year … lost close decision against No. 9 Morgan Atkinson of Cal State Fullerton, 4-3, on Jan. 2 … finished 8-5 in dual meets and 4-2 in the EWL during regular season.
At West Virginia in 2006-07: Wrapped up his second consecutive 20-win season as a sophomore … heading into the NCAA tournament posted a 20-4 record, 9-1 dual mark and 5-1 in the EWL … went 1-2 at the NCAA tournament to finish the season 21-6 … tied for first on the team with six major decisions
… ranked second on the team with 35 dual points scored … three of four losses were to nationally ranked opponents … rebounded from early season injuries … finished second in the EWL behind eventual national champion Edinboro’s Gregor Gillespie … won eight consecutive bouts heading into the EWL final versus Gillespie … began the season with eight consecutive wins, including a first-place title at the West Virginia Open … only regular season EWL loss came to Bloomsburg’s Matt Moley on the road … defeated Gillespie by a 10-9 decision in the team’s dual meet on Feb. 15 … upended Clarion’s Greg Lewis and Cleveland State’s Mike Hurley en route to the EWL championship bout.
At West Virginia in 2005-06: Enjoyed a successful freshman campaign for WVU … posted a 23-8 record … Amateur Wrestling News freshman All-America team member … 23 wins ranks eighth in wins in a season by a freshman … defeated Navy’s Joel Ahern, 7-4, to finish third place at the Navy Classic … finished sixth at the Las Vegas Invitational after having to medically withdraw from his bout against Arizona State’s Pat Payne … won all three of his matches at the Virginia Duals, including an 8-6 decision over No. 14-rated Jeffery Jaggers of Ohio State … named the EWL Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 16 … defeated Pitt’s Joey Ecklof, 4-3, in the consolation championship of the EWL tournament … went 1-2 in his first NCAA tournament.
At West Virginia in 2004-05: Posted a 5-1 record in 2005, earning a redshirt … took third place at the WVU Open in the 149-pound weight class … did not see action in the dual meet season.
Prep: Highly-touted recruit from the West Coast … ranked No. 3 in the country by Amateur Wrestling News, W.I.N. Magazine and InterMat … 2004 ASICS Tiger high school honorable mention All-American … team captain at Calvary Chapel High … posted a career high school record of 126-21 … finished second
and third at state tournament … as a senior, he totaled a record of 43-1 and held a No. 1 ranking in the county the entire season at 140 pounds … finished first at two prestigious tournaments - the Brute Classic and Reno Tournament of Champions … a two-time CIF Masters champion and twice won his league
championship … all-country grappler was named the 2003 Most Improved Wrestler and tallied 626 takedowns in his high school career … placed fifth at the Junior Nationals.
