MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) has announced the dates for the 2017 Coaches Caravan presented by United Bank, the Charleston Scholarship Dinner presented by Northeast Natural Energy and the WVU Classic at Berry Hills Country Club and Pete Dye Golf Club presented by Lumos Networks. Each event affords MAC members and Mountaineer fans the opportunity to meet, greet and visit with director of athletics Shane Lyons, coaches Dana Holgorsen, Bob Huggins and Mike Carey, as well as many other WVU coaches, administrators and current and former student-athletes.

“We are very excited to announce the dates of the Mountaineer Athletic Club’s 2017 spring events,” Ben Murray, senior associate athletic director /executive director, said. “Our coaching staff and administration always enjoy traveling around the state to visit with our loyal fans. Thank you to United Bank, Northeast Natural Energy and Lumos Networks for their continued sponsorship. We look forward to seeing all our MAC members and engaging prospective members in the upcoming months.”

The Charleston Dinner presented by Northeast Natural Energy will kick off the slate of events on Monday, April 24, at the Charleston Civic Center. The event starts at 5:30 p.m., with a reception followed by dinner and a program. Table sponsorships and individual tickets will be available for this event until Monday, April 17.

The Coaches Caravan presented by United Bank will include five events across the state. Individual tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available for each location. The Caravan kicks off at River City Restaurant in Wheeling on May 1, followed directly by the Martinsburg Caravan at the Purple Iris on May 2 and then the Parkersburg Caravan at J.P. Henry’s on May 3. The tour moves south for two stops on May 24-25. The Chuck Mathena Center in Princeton will host the Coaches Caravan on May 24, followed by a stop at Calacino’s Pizzeria in Beckley on May 25.

Again this year, the Mountaineer Athletic Club will host three WVU Classic events, each presented by Lumos Networks. The Second Annual WVU Classic at Naples will take place February 23 at Naples Grande Golf Club, in Naples, Florida. The Fourth Annual WVU Classic at Pete Dye Golf Club will be held May 21-22. The tournament begins on Sunday with a Pairings Party at the Wonder Bar in Clarksburg followed by the golf tournament on Monday at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport.

The 35th Annual WVU Classic at Berry Hills will conclude the 2017 MAC spring calendar of events on June 8-9.  The two-day event begins on Thursday with the WVU Classic Coaches Caravan and Pairings Party and concludes on Friday with the golf and tennis tournaments at Berry Hills Country Club.
