MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team closes out its spring season against Maryland on Saturday, April 26, at 12:30 p.m., at Ludwig Field, in College Park, Md.
“We want to come together as a team, finish the spring season strong and head into the summer on a good note,” says Mountaineer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown.
Tomorrow’s match is the second road contest for WVU, as the team opened the spring with a 2-0 loss at the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) Western New York Flash on March 22. Since the defeat, the Mountaineers have strung together three straight wins in Morgantown, including an 8-0 victory over Alderson-Broaddus at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on April 17.
“What was important last Thursday is that we proved we can play in all sorts of conditions,” says Izzo-Brown. “There are specific things you can learn from every match.”
Saturday’s match also is the spring finale for the Terrapins. UMD most recently faced Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J., on April 18. The team also competed against Georgetown and the Washington Spirit. UMD does not report results for its spring matches.
