Sophomore Caleah Wells and the Mountaineers are set for their second tournament of the spring season.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va - The West Virginia University volleyball team will continue its spring season at the seventh annual Indy Collegiate Invitational this Saturday, April 5, in Plainfield, Ind.
"We are excited to head out to Indy this weekend. The field of teams in this tournament is exceptional, which is exactly what we need to see at this point in our training,” says coach Jill Kramer. “I really like how mentally and physically prepared our team was last weekend. It was good to see where we have made gains and also see what parts of our game still need to improve."
This will be the second of four spring tournaments slated for the Mountaineers, who posted a 3-0 mark in their first tournament of the spring last weekend in Louisville, Ky.
“This week we could focus in on some of those areas we still need to grow in. We look forward to testing ourselves again this weekend,” Kramer says. “We will still mix up our lineup a bit and put some players in different situations. The most important thing is regardless of our lineup, that we play to our strengths and play as a team.”
West Virginia will face Akron on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m., Illinois at 11:30 a.m. and other matches to be announced later in the afternoon on Saturday.
