Harlee Earns WVU Student Leadership Award

BATON ROUGE, La. – West Virginia University Student Organization Services has named senior women’s basketball player Jess Harlee as this year’s Kenneth D. Gray Student Leadership Award recipient.
Named in honor of the current WVU Vice President for Student Affairs, this award is designed to recognize exemplary leadership on behalf of the students at WVU. This award is one of WVU’s most prestigious student honors and spotlights those who demonstrate exemplary critical-thinking, creativity and positive leadership.
The Baltimore, Md., native, is a senior industrial engineering major, and has been named to WVU’s Dean’s List in each semester enrolled. She was twice named the Industrial Engineering Student of the Year and has secured a position with an engineering firm following graduation at WVU.
On the court, Harlee was recognized in back-to-back seasons on the All-Big 12 Defensive Team. She is co-captain of the Mountaineer women’s basketball team, and is involved in the Morgantown community.
Harlee and the No. 2-seeded West Virginia women’s basketball team will face No. 7-seeded LSU in in the NCAA Second Round at 9:45 p.m. ET, on Tuesday, March 25. Tuesday’s game will air live on ESPN2, and will also be available live on ESPN3.
