MORGANTOWN, W.Va.  – The West Virginia University swimming and diving teams split up this weekend in a pair of road trips to close out their regular season.

The men’s team travels to No. 9 Ohio State on Friday, Jan. 31, at 6 p.m., while the women’s team heads to Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. The women’s meet also includes a matchup with fellow Big 12 member Iowa State.
“Both meets will be our last competitions before the Big 12 Championships, which makes these racing opportunities our last to make adjustments,” says coach Vic Riggs. “The teams had a great week of training last week and we are fine-tuning our training this week as we get ready for Big 12 taper.”
The teams were off last week following a split dual meet at TCU. The men’s team won their first-ever Big 12 meet by a score of 167-133, while the women fell to the Horned Frogs 164-121.
“The men are coming off a great meet against TCU and I look for them to have the same mindset. As for our women we need to improve in a few areas as a team to be competitive this weekend,” says Riggs. “Overall, with the teams competing separately this weekend, each team has the opportunity to finalize the areas where we need to improve and the goals we want to accomplish at Big 12s.”
Ohio State’s men’s team is coming off of a first-place finish at the Kenyon Winter Invite on Jan. 18.
Ohio’s women’s team is coming off a 156-144 loss at Akron last week, while Iowa State won at Northern Iowa by a score of 191-103 last week
For the men, nationally-ranked senior swimmer Bryce Bohman looks to close out his regular season on a high note, he won both the 100 back and 100 fly against TCU. His top-time in the 100 back this season is ranked first in the Big 12 and fifth nationally, while his 200 back time is ranked in the top-25 nationally.
For the women, junior diver Haily VandePoel looks to close out her regular season with top scores on the boards. In the last meet against TCU, she swept both boards with scores of 277.94 on the 1-meter and 318.15 on the 3-meter.
