MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Freshman West Virginia women’s soccer player Caralee Keppler was named a CollegeSoccer360 Primetime Performer of the Week for her efforts over the weekend.
The Rockville Centre, N.Y., native scored her first collegiate goal in the 86th minute to help the Mountaineers stun ninth-ranked Rutgers, 1-0, in BIG EAST tournament play on Sunday. Keppler, who had seen prior action in just one match since Sept. 13 because of injuries, came through when called upon, logging 15 minutes at forward yesterday to spark the WVU offense.
Keppler’s game-winner advances WVU to its eighth BIG EAST Championship semifinal on Friday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m. The Mountaineers, ranked 24th today by Soccer America, will face 10th-ranked Marquette at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium on the campus of Connecticut. The semifinal match will be televised live on CBS College Sports – the seventh televised contest of the season for the Mountaineers.
