MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team earned a No. 24 ranking in this week’s Soccer America Top 25 poll.
WVU is receiving votes in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 and is listed in TopDrawerSoccer’s Tournament 64 ranking that predicts the NCAA tournament field.
West Virginia is coming off an impressive 1-0 win at then-No. 9 Rutgers in BIG EAST quarterfinal action as freshman Caralee Keppler netted her first collegiate goal. The win advances WVU to its eighth BIG EAST Championship semifinal, where it will battle 10th-ranked Marquette at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, in Storrs, Conn.
The Mountaineers are 5-0 all-time against the Golden Eagles and have never met in postseason play. However, Friday’s contest serves as a rematch of the regular season meeting where WVU posted a 1-0 victory in Morgantown on Sept. 24.
