Blue Defeats Gold in Basketball Scrimmage

Jonathan Holton had a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Blue team to a 41-32 win over the Gold squad in a 30-minute officiated scrimmage at the Gold-Blue Debut Friday evening at the WVU Coliseum in front of an estimated 4,000 fans.

Holton’s Blue squad teammate, Gary Browne, nearly had a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds. Browne finished the game with six assists and four steals. Rounding out the Blue statistics: Terry Henderson (nine points and five rebounds), Devin Williams (six points and six rebounds), James Long (three points and two rebounds) and Tyrone Hughes (three points and one rebound).

Nathan Adrian paced the Gold squad with 10 points, including two 3-pointers. Rounding out the Gold team statistics: Eron Harris (nine points, seven rebounds and four steals), Juwan Staten (eight points and three rebounds), Brandon Watkins (five points and six rebounds), Kevin Noreen (five rebounds), Chase Connor (one rebound) and Richard Romeo (one rebound).

Eron Harris won the slam dunk competition, defeating Terry Henderson and Tyrone Hughes.

The Mountaineers will play their lone exhibition game on Monday, Nov. 4 against Fairmont State. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. at the Coliseum.
